Meet the Founder & CEO

Eliza Kimball

As a competitive equestrian, I spent my winters throughout middle and high school studying remotely in Wellington, Florida. Those months were physically, emotionally, and academically demanding, and I learned firsthand how difficult it is to balance high-level sport with serious academic expectations. Like many riders, I relied on remote schooling and tutoring, but I often found that most platforms prioritized simply finishing assignments rather than truly mastering the material. I carried these lessons with me to Harvard, where I refined the balance between athletics and academics at the highest level. That experience became the foundation for Crimson Connections, which I founded in 2020. My goal was to build the kind of academic support system I wish I had growing up—one that helps equestrian student-athletes not just keep up, but excel. Since graduating from Harvard College, I have dedicated my time to advising and tutoring young equestrians, helping them pursue ambitious academic paths while competing at a high level. I remain deeply involved in the sport myself, continuing to experience both the rigor and the joy of top-level showjumping.

Meet the Head of Talent Acquisition

Manny Yepes

When I look back at my time as an undergraduate at Harvard College and now as an economics student at Oxford, I realize that I was rarely taught actual content. Rather, the teachers who have most shaped me have been those who have taught me how to be curious, how to explore, and how to sit through a hard problem and figure things out on my own. In the past, as a Teaching Assistant for Harvard’s Department of Continuing Education and a Crimson Connections tutor, I’ve tried to do the same with my own students, teaching them how to engage with their coursework rather than just providing information. As Head of Talent Acquisition for Crimson Connections, I follow the same philosophy. I don’t look for subject mastery. I look for those who understand that a great tutor doesn’t make students dependent on them; they help students grow on their own.

Meet the Head of Technology

Carly Chen

My academic interests at Harvard College center around Computer Science, but much of what I enjoy about the field is the practical side of building and maintaining systems that people rely on every day. As Head of Technology for Crimson Connections, I manage and update the company’s website, making sure that families can easily find the information they need and that the platform reflects the work our tutors are doing. This role is largely behind the scenes, but I enjoy the process of refining and improving the site so that it supports both tutors and students as smoothly as possible. My goal is to keep the technical side of the company organized and reliable, allowing the focus to remain where it belongs, on teaching and learning.
